Start with the attic you have.
The existing material, its distribution and the available access help determine a sensible upgrade. We review coverage and visible conditions before deciding where a top-up fits and which supporting improvements belong in the quote.
Specify the finished R-value.
R-50 and R-60 describe thermal resistance, not a single universal number of inches. Different products require different installed depths and quantities. Your scope should identify the material, the target and the area included.
Prepare before covering.
Accessible ceiling air leaks, the hatch, bathroom exhaust connections and the air path at the eaves deserve attention before additional insulation covers them. Wet insulation, roof leaks or unusual materials may require separate assessment before the upgrade proceeds.
Connect the details. Insulation, ceiling air sealing, attic ventilation and household exhaust are considered together when planning the scope.
