BAFFLES & SOFFIT INTAKES

Open intakes.
A clear air path.

Soffit intake and baffles help air enter the vented attic while keeping insulation in its intended place.

Begin at the eaves.

Attic ventilation needs a way for outdoor air to enter as well as a place for air to leave. Covered or blocked intake openings can limit that path even when roof exhaust vents are present.

What a baffle does.

A suitable baffle preserves a channel between insulation and the underside of the roof near the eaves. It helps keep loose-fill insulation from obstructing the ventilation route.

Check the opening behind it.

A baffle does not create an outdoor intake through a closed soffit or a blocked assembly. We consider the available openings, the eave construction and the roof ventilation arrangement together.

Connect the details. Insulation, ceiling air sealing, attic ventilation and household exhaust are considered together when planning the scope.

WHAT THE SCOPE CAN INCLUDE

The work.
Clearly set out.

Insulation and a ventilation baffle between attic framing

Soffit review

Identify the available intake openings and visible obstructions.

Baffle installation

Use suitable baffles for the attic and preserve the intended channel.

Insulation control

Keep new coverage back from the air path while insulating the agreed attic area.

YOUR QUESTIONS

A little more
detail.

Do I need more roof vents first?

The intake and exhaust arrangement should be reviewed as a system. More exhaust alone may not address the cause of poor attic airflow.

Can baffles be included with insulation?

Yes. Suitable baffles and related eave preparation can be included in the same written scope as the insulation top-up.
